How to Download Instagram Reels

Downloading an Instagram Reel to MP4 takes ten seconds — if you know where to paste the link. Here's the exact workflow we use thousands of times a day.

What you need

  • A public Reel URL (starts with instagram.com/reel/...)
  • Any modern browser — Chrome, Safari, Edge, Firefox, Brave
  • No account, no app install, no browser extension

Step-by-step: copy → paste → download

  1. Open the Reel in the Instagram app or on instagram.com.
  2. Tap the share icon (paper airplane) → Copy link. On desktop, right-click the video → Copy link address.
  3. Open our Instagram downloader.
  4. Paste the URL into the input field. The download starts automatically — no extra clicks.
  5. Pick MP4 (video + sound) or MP3 (audio only) and save to your device.

Can I download a private Reel?

No — and neither can any other legitimate tool. Private Reels are protected by Instagram's auth layer and require the original uploader's login. If a site promises otherwise, it's either lying or stealing your credentials.

We only process public Reels. For content from private accounts, ask the author to resend it or screen-record with their permission.

Quality, format, watermark

Instagram re-encodes every Reel on upload. The maximum you can download is 1080×1920 H.264 MP4 at the bitrate Instagram stored it. We don't add watermarks to our files — the video comes out exactly as Instagram serves it. If the original creator baked a watermark into the video before uploading, that watermark stays (nothing can remove it cleanly).

Bulk downloads and audio extraction

Paste a username or a collection URL to batch-save the last N public Reels at once. For audio only, choose MP3 320 kbps — perfect for pulling audio from a cooking or fitness reel into your own edit.

FAQ

Is it legal to download Instagram Reels?

Downloading a public Reel for personal, offline viewing is allowed in most jurisdictions. Re-uploading someone else's Reel as your own is not — always credit the original creator.

Does Instagram notify the author?

No. Using our downloader doesn't generate any signal inside the Instagram app.

Why doesn't the link work?

Three common reasons: (1) the Reel was deleted, (2) the account became private, (3) you copied the profile URL instead of the Reel URL (should contain /reel/).
